Saturday, March 18, 1944:

On the remaining sectors of the Eastern Front the Russians attacked the area west of Nevel, at Ostrov and of the Narva front. Latvian SS Volunteer formations took a brilliant share in the repulse of these attacks.

Tuesday, March 28, 1944:

  In the area southeast of Ostrov Latvian SS Volunteer formations and German troops repelled the onrush of several enemy divisions. A local breach was sealed. On the Narva front our Grenadiers supported by artillery, tanks and battleplanes, broke through the well constructed positions of the enemy and mopped up a local breach area.

Major Rudel, wing commander of a German battleplane squadron, destroyed 17 enemy tanks on the southern sector of the Eastern Front in a single day.

  Thursday, March 30, 1944:

  South-east of Ostrov and the Narva Front strong enemy attacks were broken up in the heavy fighting by German troops and Latvian SS Volunteer companies.

  Naval escort vessels shot down three Soviet bombers over the Finnish Gulf.

  Monday, October 2, 1944:

  Russian forces in Estonia captured Moon Island, between the mainland and the large Island of Oesel.

Between the Dvina and the Gulf of Riga enemy attacks broke down in front of our line of fire. The Island of Moon, at the western end of the Gulf of Riga, was lost to the superior enemy. Our movements in Finland continue to take their appointed course.

  Saturday, December 30, 1944:

  In Courland the Soviets continued their mass assault. Units of the Army, Waffen-SS, and Latvian SS Volunteers everywhere repelled the Soviet divisions which were again strongly supported by artillery and tanks. Numerous enemy tanks were destroyed.

  Tuesday, January 2 1945:

In Latvia the enemy resumed his attacks north-west of Dobeln. Our divisions smashed all enemy break-through attempts, which were made after heavy artillery preparation. The Soviets suffered heavy casualties in the bitter fighting. In eleven days of heavy fighting the formations of the Army, of the Waffen-SS and Latvian SS Volunteers, all under the command of Colonel-General Schoerner splendidly supported by flying units and A.A. artillery of the Luftwaffe under the command of the General Pfugbeil have repelled attacks by 46 infantry divisions and 22 armoured and artillery units. Thanks of the great achievements of both commander and troops, the German front in Latvia remained in our hands apart from a few insignificant losses of ground.

    From December 21 to 31 a total of 513 enemy tanks were destroyed and 79 guns and 267 machineguns were captured. The enemy’s losses in men are unusually high. A.A. guns of the Luftwaffe shot down 112 Soviet planes in this fighting while another 145 were accounted for by German fighters.

 Tuesday, February 27, 1945:

  South-east of Libau enemy break through attempts again failed yesterday in the face of the proven steadfastness of our Latvian divisions.  

  Jāpieņem, ka arī pārējie Anglijas laikraksti ir snieguši frontes ziņojumus pa notikumiem Austrumu frontē, bet šie laikraksta The Manchester Guardian ir vācu virspavēlniecības ziņojumu bez tendiciozs tulkojums. Tas ar liecina, ka latviešu karavīru līdzdalība Otra pasaules kaŗa Anglija nebija sveša lieta un, pēc pilnīgas stāvokļa noskaidrošanas angļu gūstekņu nometnēs Rietumvācja, nebija pasteigums, ka atlaižot no gūsta mūsu leģionārus neuzskatīja par SS piederīgiem un tos, kas vien vēlējas, uzņēma Anglija ka ieceļotājus jau 1947. gada, laika, kad citas emigrācijas zemes vēl ilgu laiku skaidroja latviešu karavīru “divu burtu” jautājumus.
